Screen & UI
These settings control how the screen behaves while Arrivals Board is running and whether the settings button is visible.
Settings¶
Open Settings > Screen & UI to access these options.
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Keep Screen Awake | On / Off | On |
| Show Settings Button | On / Off | On |
Keep Screen Awake¶
When enabled, the screen will never dim or lock while Arrivals is in the foreground. This is the recommended setting for always-on displays and wall-mounted iPads.
When disabled, the device follows its normal auto-lock behavior.
Screen burn-in
Keeping the screen awake indefinitely may cause image burn-in on some displays. This is most relevant for OLED screens (including recent iPads and many TVs). Consider using Sound Hours or Shortcuts automations to turn off the display overnight.
Warning
Disabling Keep Screen Awake means you may need to unlock your device to see the board after a period of inactivity. For always-on setups, leave this enabled.
Show Settings Button¶
Controls whether the gear icon is visible on the board.
| State | Behavior |
|---|---|
| On | The settings button is visible on the board. |
| Off | The settings button is hidden for a cleaner, more immersive display. |
Hiding the settings button is useful when you want the board to look like a real split-flap installation with no on-screen controls.
Accessing Settings when the button is hidden¶
Even with the settings button hidden, you can always reach Settings:
Long-press anywhere on the board background to open Settings.
Press and hold the center button on the Siri Remote, or press Play/Pause.
Info
On Apple TV, navigation is always handled via the Siri Remote --- there is no visible gear icon on the board. This setting primarily affects the iPad experience.
